Lent Day 29

When Nolan was about 8 months old he started crawling like a madman. One evening Amy was working and I was cooking a pizza and when I went to pull it out of the oven it got stuck.

Lent Day 25

One of the pictures we keep coming back to during the lent season is the idea of a rubber band. We realize the tension that we experience dealing with sin and redemption, grace and justice, the present of sin and the future of heaven.

Lent Day 24

For 23 days now we have either hinted at or told you to sacrifice something to be able to focus on the events that leads up to Jesus’ resurrection, most call this, Easter Sunday.

Lent Day 23

Sacrifice is a tough idea. You can sacrifice your body to be a professional athlete, you can sacrifice your money for a noble cause, you can sacrifice your morals for a job promotion, and you can sacrifice your life to save someone else. Sacrifice is a part of life, and it requires us to weigh the cost.

Lent Day 19

I don’t know if you have ever studied Psalm 51 before. It is David’s repentance Psalm after he has an affair with Bathsheba, kills her husband, and covers it up.

Lent Day 18

On Day 18 of Lent, open your Bible and read Isaiah 46:5-13.

Lent Day 17

When I was young we would go to the beach and while we were swimming we would reach down and try to find seashells, hermit crabs, and very once in a long while, sea dollars.

Lent Day 12

When I think back to a time that was in my early thirties, I was a very spiritually immature person.

Lent Day 11

About every 3 months, we have to get our in our yard and pull weeds, do extra edging, trim bushes and trees, and lay some mulch.

Lent Day 9

I think that sometimes when we talk about sin, we talk about the do not lie, do not steal, do not murder.
